Dropping your foot stretchers

Have you ever felt like you just couldn't get deep enough in to the catch?

Like things were too tight, despite following my usual suggestion of putting that strap across the widest part of your foot?

It's totally normal. Sometimes it's tightness, lack of mobility, maybe carrying some extra weight...the reasons are many.

BUT

There could be one quick fix that might make all the difference for you.

Just drop the foot stretchers an extra peg.

That strap across the lowest shoelace cue is just a starting point. Sometimes we need to take things in to our own hands and get our machine more finely tuned to us.

So consider this your permission to drop those foot stretchers an extra peg and see if making that one tiny change helps you feel more comfortable and get a little extra clearance. I'm consistently surprised by how much it can help.

Maybe dropping your foot stretchers doesn't give you the clearance you're looking for.

But the solution to finding less restriction in the catch isn't as easy as just moving your knees out of the way. It pays to take a more tactical approach. In this video I help to walk you through what you can do to get more comfortable.

I'll be at AND Racing the Head of the Charles!

For the first time ever, I will be not only attending, but also racing the Head of the Charles 2024.

This year has been one of the most unexpected turns in my rowing career as an athlete. What started off the year, jumping in to an 8+ at the San Diego Crew Classic (our home opener at San Diego Rowing Club), and landing the win, has turned in to a run on the season.

4 Wins at Regionals

5 Wins at Nationals

And now after one of the hardest fought selections I've ever been through, I've made our Champ 4+ boat. Time will tell how we do, but I'd love to see as many of you as possible while I'm there.
